Privacy Policy

Last updated

This policy explains what GradBird collects when you use gradbird.com or join the waitlist, why we collect it, who can see it and how to delete it. GradBird is run from Lahore, Pakistan. If anything here is unclear, email us at [email protected].

The short version

  • We collect your WhatsApp number, study track and city so we can send you admission alerts, and your email only if you add it.
  • We don’t sell your data, and we don’t share it with universities, coaching centres or advertisers.
  • Reply STOP on WhatsApp to stop messages. Ask us any time and we delete your data.

What we collect

When you join the waitlist, we save:

  • Your WhatsApp number, to send you alerts and updates.
  • Your email address, only if you add it, to send you a welcome email with your invite link.
  • Your study track (for example Engineering or Medical) and your city, so the alerts you get are relevant.
  • Whether you are a student or a parent, and which button you used to join.
  • The date and time you agreed to receive WhatsApp updates.
  • How you found us, if the link you followed had a campaign tag (for example a link from one of our social posts).
  • Who invited you, if you joined through a friend’s invite link.

After you join, you can answer two optional questions about pricing. If you do, we save your answers. Your answers are not a purchase.

What we don’t collect

We don’t ask for your CNIC, marks, documents, passwords or payment details to join the waitlist. When autopilot applications open and GradBird needs any of these to apply for you, we’ll explain why on the screen that asks for them, store them encrypted, and update this policy first.

How we use it

  • To send you admission alerts, reminders and GradBird updates on WhatsApp.
  • To show you how many friends joined through your invite link.
  • To send you one welcome email with your invite link, if you gave us your email. We don’t send marketing emails.
  • To decide which universities, cities and features to cover next, and to set fair launch pricing.
  • To keep the waitlist free of spam and fake signups.

We only message you on WhatsApp because you asked us to. We aim to send useful updates only.

When you join, you get a personal invite link. If a friend joins through it, we record that they were invited by you so we can count your invites. Your friend’s number is never shown to you, and your number is never shown to them.

Who can see your data

  • The GradBird team. Only the people running GradBird can see the waitlist. When you join, the team gets an email with your details in the GradBird inbox.
  • Our web host. The website, the waitlist and our email are stored on our hosting provider’s servers, which may be outside Pakistan.
  • WhatsApp. When we message you on WhatsApp, WhatsApp’s own terms and privacy policy also apply to those messages.

We don’t sell your data. We don’t share it with universities, colleges, coaching centres or advertisers. If we ever offer to connect you with a university, we’ll ask you first, separately, and only share what you agree to share.

We may disclose information if Pakistani law or a valid legal request requires it.

Cookies and similar technology

  • The site doesn’t use advertising or tracking cookies right now.
  • After you join, your browser keeps your waitlist confirmation in session storage so the welcome page can show your invite link. It is cleared when you close the tab.
  • To stop spam, we briefly keep a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address. It is deleted automatically within an hour.
  • Our web host keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, browser and pages requested) for security.

If we add analytics or ads in future, we’ll update this page before turning them on.

How long we keep it

We keep your waitlist details while GradBird is running and you are still subscribed. If you reply STOP, we stop messaging you. If you ask us to delete your data, we delete it within 30 days (see below).

Deleting your data

You can ask us to delete your data at any time, for any reason. Email [email protected], or reply to our welcome email, and tell us your WhatsApp number. We may message that number to confirm the request is yours.

When we delete your data, we permanently remove your waitlist record: your number, email, track, city, pricing answers and invite link. We also delete the signup email about you from our inbox. Our nightly database backups are kept for up to 30 days, so your data is gone from them within 30 days too. Friends who joined through your link keep their own records. We’ll tell you when it’s done.

Your choices

  • Stop messages: reply STOP to any GradBird message on WhatsApp.
  • See or correct your data: email [email protected] from any address and tell us your WhatsApp number. We may message that number to confirm the request is yours.
  • Delete your data: see “Deleting your data” above.

Students under 18

Many of our users are still in school or college. If you are under 18, please check with a parent or guardian before joining. Parents are welcome to join on their child’s behalf.

Keeping your data safe

We use an encrypted (HTTPS) connection on every page. Waitlist records are private and only visible to logged-in GradBird admins. The secret part of your welcome link is stored in a scrambled form, so it can’t be read from our database. No system is perfectly secure, so we collect as little as we can.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page. If a change affects how we use the data you’ve already given us, we’ll tell you on WhatsApp before it takes effect.
